The television star is currently recovering at a rehabilitation facility, holding on to his faith to help him heal and walk again. Aaron described his health episode as a blessing in disguise that has set him on a path to explore new horizons and become a better person.

“My purpose moving forward is to take advantage of the second chance I’ve been given,” Aaron explained, revealing that he is also writing a book, working on a documentary, and developing an iHeartRadio podcast.

He will also step into his entrepreneurial era by creating a clothing line, which will contribute to his comeback. The actor added that recovery has been gradual, but he is beginning to feel like himself again, including regaining his voice.

Although his right hand remains numb and occasionally weak or stiff, regular exercises are helping him rebuild strength; the actor is now focused on restoring his upper-body and core strength. Aaron stated to US Weekly that he is looking forward to sitting up and moving between his bed and wheelchair with less assistance.

The TV Star Opened Up About Depression And Finding Hope During Stroke Recovery

Reflecting on the signs that led to his medical emergency, Aaron admitted that he had been ignoring some vital signs while battling some issues like diabetes and congestive heart failure. He added that he had an infection that went all the way from his bloodstream into his spinal cord and lungs, which caused the stroke.

He credited his proactiveness and decision to go to the hospital early as the catalyst that saved him from death. As he continues to fight his way back to normalcy, Aaron shared that doctors have acknowledged that his ability to move some joints and retain sensation could indicate the possibility of further recovery.

Emotionally, Aaron admitted that he has been experiencing periods of loneliness and depression, but returning to work, his faith and determination have helped him cope.

While he currently relies largely on a bed and wheelchair, he refuses to let his condition define him and remains convinced that he will eventually walk, run, and swim again.

Quinton Aaron Family Drama Intensified As He Recovered From Spinal Stroke

In February, The Blast shared that Aaron made some revelations alleging that his spiritual wife, Margarita, had tried to kill him while he was fighting for his life on the hospital bed. Margarita, during Aaron’s health woes, had played major roles in the decision-making amid allegations from his family members that they were never legally married.

At the actor’s orders and with his support, his brother secured a restraining order against Margarita, insisting she was still married to another man. Aaron also made it clear that he did not want to see Margarita anywhere near him during his time in the hospital.

He claimed she was secretive about her marital status, saying he knew her estranged husband had refused to sign the divorce papers. Margarita insists that she is a woman of God and does not exhibit evil spirits as alleged by Aaron, nor does she have any plans to kill him.

Inside ‘The Blind Side’ Actor And Margarita’s Relationship

The actor and his spiritual wife, a makeup artist, met on TikTok, tied the knot in 2024, and debuted their relationship on social media. Aaron had always spoken so lovingly of Margarita, describing her as being mentally, physically, and emotionally present, and helping her weather the storms.

As stated by The Blast, he added in a previous interview that she helped him get over depression and so much more, although she rarely gave herself credit for how pivotal she has been in his life and journey.

Aaron has come clean about his depression episode and emotional eating problem, which contributed to his massive weight gain. However, he lost about 200 lbs in 2025 after a faith rekindling moment.

The 42-year-old’s nasty home accident and hospitalization caught the attention of the Veterans Aid Network, who then launched a fundraiser to help his family pay for treatment. Currently, the GoFundMe has exceeded its goal of $37,000 as the organizers affirmed that his condition has become frightening for his loved ones.

As The Guardian reported, the fundraising page shared timely updates, including the first time he regained consciousness and began feeling sensation in his foot. Aaron made his mark in Hollywood when he portrayed the young Michael Oher in 2009’s “The Blind Side” alongside Sandra Bullock.

Bullock won an Oscar for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy, whose family took Oher in when he was in high school. “The Blind Side” also earned a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

In 2023, Oher alleged in court that Tuohy and her husband, Sean, misled him into entering a conservatorship agreement in 2004 under the guise of adoption.

A judge eventually ended the program in September 2023 as a lawyer for Tuohy assured them that the couple would remove every reference from their website that refers to Oher as their adopted son.
