The Publisher of 9News Nigeria, Mr Obinna Ejianya has written an open letter to the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuma Soludo, urging him to revive strategic institutions in Awka North, particularly Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu.
In the letter titled “Re: Consolidate on the achievements of your predecessors and urgently revive strategic institutions in Awka North, particularly Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu”, and made available to journalists on Sunday, Ejianya said the letter is not written to criticise for the sake of criticism, but rather a sincere appeal for continuity in governance.
According to the letter, “History remembers leaders who not only built new projects but also ensured that existing public investments fulfilled their intended purpose. I therefore respectfully urge your administration to: prioritise the full revitalisation of Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu; fast-track all outstanding accreditation requirements for its academic programmes; strengthen funding, staffing, and infrastructure to enable the institution to operate at full capacity.
“Revive and modernise Purity FM, Mgbakwu, restoring it as an important public communication platform and accelerating the broader development plan for communities within the Awka Capital Territory, particularly Awka North, in line with the original vision of expanding balanced development across the state capital region.
“Your Excellency, leadership is often measured not only by what is newly built but also by what is preserved, strengthened, and transformed for future generations.
“I believe that with your academic background, administrative experience, and commitment to excellence, your administration possesses both the capacity and the opportunity to consolidate the worthy achievements of previous governments while delivering your own lasting legacy”.
While acknowledging that Governor Soludo’s administration has recorded notable achievements over the past three years, Ejianya said he respectfully submits that the administration appears to have paid insufficient attention to several strategic institutions and development initiatives established by previous administrations—particularly those of his immediate predecessor, Chief Willie Obiano.
“Development should never be a relay race where each administration abandons the baton handed over by the previous one. Rather, governance should be a continuum in which every government builds upon existing foundations for the collective benefit of the people.
“One area where this concern is most evident is within the Awka Capital Territory, especially the communities of Awka North, including Mgbakwu, Achalla, Amanuke, Urum, Isu Aniocha, Okpuno, and neighbouring communities”.
He said the people of Awka North do not seek special treatment, saying what they seek is inclusion, continuity and the fulfilment of promises embedded in public institutions established for the benefit of present and future generations.
Ejianya said he respectfully trust that his appeal will receive the kind consideration and prompt action of the Governor, praying that God will continue to grant Governor Soludo wisdom, strength, and good health as he continues to serve Ndi Anambra.
