‘Pray For Tinubu!’ — Sowore compares president’s Saudi trip to Yar’Adua’s travels

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has drawn a comparison between President Bola Tinubu’s planned trip to Saudi Arabia and the overseas travels of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, urging Nigerians to “PRAY FOR TINUBU!”

Sowore made the remark in a post on his X account on Wednesday, referencing Yar’Adua’s past travels for medical treatment and subsequent journey to Saudi Arabia.

The activist recalled that Yar’Adua initially travelled to Germany for medical care before eventually proceeding to Saudi Arabia.

He linked the former president’s experience to Tinubu’s reported trips to France and his planned visit to Saudi Arabia, drawing attention to what he described as a similarity between the two situations.

“Like Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who initially sought medical treatment in Germany before eventually travelling to Saudi Arabia, Tinubu has made repeated trips to France and is now heading to Saudi Arabia,” Sowore wrote.

He accompanied the comparison with the pointed appeal, “PRAY FOR TINUBU!”

Sowore’s remarks appear to question whether Tinubu’s planned Saudi Arabian visit could have implications beyond the officially stated purpose of the trip. However, his post did not provide evidence establishing that the President’s travel plans were connected to medical treatment.

The Presidency had announced that Tinubu would travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, the Islamic lesser pilgrimage, and pray for Nigeria.
