The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of Nigeria Police Force, has come out to say its operatives have foiled a car theft attempt in the nation’s capital, Abuja, arresting a suspect in the process with a fabricated key.
In a statement issued to newsmen by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that: “On the 22nd July, 2026, at approximately 12:35 p.m., the FCT Police Command received a distress call from a staff of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Maitama, Abuja, reporting that while attempting to drive out of the office premises, he observed an unfamiliar individual trying to gain access to a parked vehicle within the premises.
“Upon receipt of the report, a patrol team from Maitama Police Division was immediately dispatched to the scene, where one Thankgod Ayuba, 26 years old, of no fixed address, was arrested while attempting to force entry into a black Toyota Venza belonging to an NFIU staff using a fabricated master key.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.”
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883.
