Police arrest 12 Suspected kidnappers, informants, recover AK-47 rifles in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects including eight suspected kidnappers and four suspected informants in Millennium City and Maraban Rido, recovering AK-47 rifles in the process.

The Command disclosed this in a press release issued on 12th October, 2026 by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan.

According to the statement, the arrests followed intensified clearance operations, targeted raids and patrols carried out in collaboration with other security agencies in response to recent security challenges in the affected areas.

Those arrested for suspected kidnapping were identified as Dauda Murna, Usman Abdullahi, Abubakar Sulaiman, Saleh Abdullahi, Usman Muhammed, Mathias Moses, Makama John and Tafarki Audu.

The four suspected informants arrested are Shuaibu Sabiu, Audu Makama, Simon Moses and Amadu Mathew.

The Command said it was particularly concerned about individuals suspected of supplying kidnappers with intelligence on security movements and operations, noting that preliminary investigations indicated two suspects allegedly confessed to leaking information about police operations to criminal elements, thereby undermining security efforts and endangering lives of personnel and residents.

It said investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspects’ involvement, identify accomplices and bring all connected to the crimes to justice.

The Police said the state government has released three additional Armoured Personnel Carriers, APCs, to the Command to strengthen operational capacity and enhance security in the affected areas.

It assured residents that clearance operations of criminal hideouts will be sustained to dismantle criminal networks, disrupt their activities and facilitate rescue of kidnapped victims.

The Command also recalled that on 10th October, 2026, a high-powered government delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Malam Sani Kila, and other security chiefs held an engagement meeting with traditional rulers, community members and stakeholders of the affected areas, where he reiterated that security is a collective responsibility and urged residents to report suspected collaborators.

Acknowledging that Millennium City is largely surrounded by forested areas and lies on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis, the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest police station.

He said additional tactical personnel, operational vehicles and other security resources have been deployed to the areas to intensify surveillance and improve response time.

CP Rabiu called on members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative by providing credible and timely information to assist in fighting kidnapping and other crimes, adding that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
