Passengers and commuters, who have been stuck in gridlock at the Benin bypass in Edo for about 12 hours, have lamented their fate and sought urgent intervention by the government.
The cause of the gridlock, according to some of the travellers, is dilapidated portions of the road that have caused trucks, buses and other vehicles to seek non-available outlets.

Vehicles travelling to the South-South and the South East regions of the country said that they had been stuck at a particularly bad intersection of the road in Benin City.
Some of the commuters said they had been in the gridlock since 1:50 am on Thursday, and had remained there as at the time of filing this report.
