Oyo Community Demands Release of Kidnapped Schoolchildren

A protest erupted in Oyo State on Wednesday as youths and residents took to the streets in Ogbomoso over the recent abduction of students and teachers during coordinated attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area.

The demonstrators were seen chanting “Bring back our children,” “Bring back our teachers,” and “Free our children and teachers,” expressing anger over the continued insecurity in the state.

The protesters also voiced frustration over rising insecurity and economic hardship, accusing the government of failing to protect lives and improve living conditions across affected communities.

During the protest, some participants were seen pulling down billboards and banners bearing the image of President Bola Tinubu, as tensions escalated in parts of the city.

The demonstration followed the abduction of dozens of pupils and a teacher in recent school attacks, with reports also indicating that the kidnapped teacher was later killed by the attackers.
