Oyebanji Urges Ekiti Muslims to Support Tinubu’s Re-election

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has urged Muslim faithful in the state to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election, citing what he described as federal government interventions in the state.

Oyebanji made the appeal on Friday during a special Jumat thanksgiving service at the Central Mosque in Ado-Ekiti, held as part of activities marking the beginning of his second term.

The governor thanked the Muslim community for its prayers and support during his first term and pledged to maintain an inclusive administration in the new term.

“I want to appeal to you today to continue to pray for us so that we will be able to do more,” Oyebanji said. He also promised to provide more opportunities for Muslims to serve in his administration.

The governor commended Muslim appointees who served during his first term, saying they performed well. He added that he consulted the Grand Imam before appointing some members of the Muslim community to government positions.

Oyebanji subsequently urged Muslims in the state to support Tinubu’s re-election bid, asking them to consider the Federal Government’s interventions and support for Ekiti.

The governor also said his administration would continue to work with religious institutions and other stakeholders to promote peace, unity and development across the state.

Earlier, the President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas for the South-West, Edo and Delta States, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, commended Oyebanji for appointing Muslims to positions in his administration.

Bello urged Muslim appointees to continue justifying the confidence placed in them and called on the Muslim community to keep praying for the governor and other leaders while promoting religious harmony.

The service was attended by Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Secretary to the State Government Habibat Adubiaro, members of the State Executive Council and Senator Babafemi Ojudu.
