…Police Reportedly Discover Videos of Multiple Women on Suspect’s Phone
A Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri, Imo State, has reportedly remanded a 28-year-old man over allegations of sexual extortion, non-consensual recording and the online distribution of intimate images and videos.
The suspect, identified as Uzochukwu Ikenna Wisdom, is accused of secretly recording women during private and intimate moments and allegedly using the materials to threaten and blackmail them.
He was also accused of sharing intimate images and videos of some of his female partners on social media platforms, including Facebook and TikTok, without their consent.
The allegations were made public by Virgin Heart Foundation, an Owerri-based non-governmental organisation, which claimed that the suspect had allegedly developed a pattern of recording young women during intimate encounters and threatening to release the footage whenever disputes arose.
According to the organisation, the suspect was eventually arrested after allegedly sharing intimate videos of his girlfriend of two years online.
“The law caught up with him when he shared nudes of his girlfriend of two years online with the intent to sell them to adult websites,” the NGO alleged in a statement.
The organisation further claimed that during the police investigation, officers allegedly discovered intimate videos of several other young women on the suspect’s phone, raising concerns that there could be additional victims.
“The police saw nude videos of many young women who are also his victims,” the organisation alleged.
Virgin Heart Foundation said it was working alongside Marjorie Ezihe of the Sisters With a Goal Initiative to provide support to one of the alleged victims, who reportedly suffered severe emotional distress following the alleged release and threatened release of her private videos.
According to the NGO, the young woman, said to be a student of Imo State University, had allegedly attempted to take her own life on several occasions as a result of the trauma associated with the incident.
The organisation described the case as an example of how digital abuse and sexual extortion can be used as weapons against victims in intimate relationships.
“Digital abuse and sexual extortion are weapons some abusive men use against their victims,” the NGO stated.
It added that the alleged victim had endured serious psychological trauma after her private videos were reportedly posted on TikTok and Facebook.
The organisation also shared a video in which the suspect’s former girlfriend reportedly narrated her experience and described how the alleged blackmail and threats affected her mental and emotional well-being.
According to the NGO, the suspect has now been remanded by a Magistrate Court in Owerri while the case proceeds.
The allegations against Wisdom have not yet been proven in court, and he remains presumed innocent until found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
The case has once again raised concerns over sexual extortion, non-consensual intimate recordings and the growing use of digital platforms to threaten, humiliate and exploit victims.
Authorities and advocacy organisations continue to warn that recording, sharing or threatening to distribute a person’s intimate images or videos without consent may attract serious criminal consequences under applicable Nigerian laws.
