Engr. Gospel Obolo has emerged as the Paramount Ruler of Otakeme Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State
His emergence followed the adoption of the age-long customary hereditary system backed by judicial verdicts, nomination by the producing royal component and subsequent unanimous selection by the well-attended Congress of Otakeme Community during the widely publicized general meeting convened by the Chiefs’ Council.
The selection and installation, supervised by the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also saw Chief Bonami Oyilisi emerge as the Deputy Paramount Ruler.
Speaking after his installation, King Gospel Obolo described the honour done him as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the Otakeme People.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to lead with humility, integrity, and a strong commitment to the welfare of the community.
King Obolo further pledged to promote peace, unity, and sustainable development, expressing confidence that his reign would usher in greater progress and prosperity for Otakeme.
Also speaking, Chief Bonami Oyilisi, deputy Paramount Ruler of Otakeme assured the people of their readiness to work with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more peaceful, and more prosperous Community for future generations.
Immediately after the installation at the Town Hall, the Paramount Ruler, the Deputy Paramount Ruler and members of the Council of Chiefs, Elders, Women and Youths held a procession round the Otakeme Community to herald the new era.
