The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dismissed reports suggesting that passport services have been suspended following the migration of additional passport branches to its Central Personalisation Centre.
The agency clarified that passport applications, biometric enrolment and booklet production are continuing nationwide without interruption.
In a statement shared on its official 𝕏 account on Wednesday, the NIS explained that the ongoing migration is a strategic administrative upgrade designed to strengthen passport production, improve security and enhance service delivery, not a suspension of operations.
According to the service, applicants can continue visiting their designated passport offices across the country to complete biometric data capture as scheduled.
“The recent migration of additional passport branches to the Central Personalisation Centre is a strategic administrative enhancement, rather than a suspension of services,” the statement read.
The Immigration Service explained that the new centralised production framework is intended to align Nigeria’s passport issuance process with international security standards while improving efficiency and protecting the integrity of the country’s travel documents.
It added that the upgrade would help streamline passport production and reduce vulnerabilities associated with decentralised processing.
The NIS also assured Nigerians that passport capturing centres remain fully operational and that the production and distribution of passport booklets are continuing within the established timelines.
“Applicants can still visit their local centres to complete biometric data capture seamlessly. This centralised production framework is designed to align with global security standards, streamline processing timelines, and significantly safeguard the integrity of the Nigerian passport,” the service stated.

The agency further reassured applicants that passport booklets are being processed efficiently at the Central Personalisation Centre before being dispatched to the relevant state commands for collection.
“Citizens can rest assured that capturing centres remain fully operational, with physical booklets processed efficiently and returned to local commands within standard delivery windows,” the statement added.
The clarification comes amid concerns among passport applicants following reports that the migration of additional passport branches could affect ongoing passport processing across the country.
The Nigeria Immigration Service, however, maintained that the upgrade is solely aimed at improving the passport issuance system while ensuring uninterrupted service delivery for Nigerians seeking travel documents.
