Saudi authorities said it has execute Nigerian national in Madinah region of the country, after his conviction for smuggling cocaine into the Kingdom, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The Nigerian identified as Idris Ibrahim, was executed in Madinah on August 24, 2026, for smuggling cocaine into Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Interior said it confirmed that Ibrahim was arrested, formally charged, and found guilty by a competent court.
The death sentence, according to Saudi Arabia authority was upheld by both m the appeals and Supreme Courts, and a royal order was issued to carry out the execution.
The Ministry of Interior further reiterated its commitment to combating drug crimes and warned that traffickers will face severe legal penalties.
Authorities in the Madinah region said it carried out the death penalty on Monday, August 24, 2026 (11 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH), against a Nigerian national convicted of smuggling cocaine into Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement that the offender, Idris Ibrahim, was arrested after being found involved in drug smuggling. Investigations led to formal charges against him.
The ministry added that after referring the case to the competent court, a verdict was issued confirming his guilt and sentencing him to death as a discretionary punishment.
The ruling was upheld by the appeals court and the Supreme Court, and a royal order was issued to implement the sentence in accordance with Islamic law.
“The execution was carried out on Monday in the Madinah region”. The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting society from the dangers of drugs and enforcing legal penalties against traffickers and dealers. The ministry also warned that those who commit such crimes will face severe legal consequences.
