The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed a recruitment advertisement circulating on social media, describing it as fake and warning Nigerians not to fall victim to fraudsters exploiting job seekers.
The Service urged members of the public to ignore the misleading publication and rely solely on its official communication channels for verified information regarding recruitment exercises and other activities.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to the NCS, the fake recruitment notice is the handiwork of criminals attempting to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians with false promises of employment.
The Service cautioned fraudsters to desist from using its name to perpetrate scams, stressing that any genuine recruitment exercise would be publicly announced through its verified platforms.
It also advised prospective applicants to verify every recruitment announcement before taking any action.
“Members of the public are advised to disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through the official communication channels of the Nigeria Customs Service,” the statement read.
Fraudsters Exploiting Job Seekers
The Customs Service noted that fake recruitment schemes have become increasingly common across the country, with scammers taking advantage of the high demand for government jobs to defraud desperate applicants.
According to the agency, the fraudsters often circulate false recruitment adverts and demand payments from victims under the guise of processing employment opportunities.

“Recruitment scams have become a recurring challenge in Nigeria, with fraudsters often exploiting public interest in government jobs by circulating fake advertisements and soliciting money from unsuspecting applicants,” the Service stated.
The NCS reminded Nigerians that security agencies and government institutions have repeatedly warned against responding to unofficial recruitment advertisements.
It urged the public to always confirm the authenticity of employment information through the Service’s official communication channels before sharing or acting on it.
The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency in its recruitment processes and encouraged Nigerians to remain vigilant against individuals seeking to exploit them through fake job offers.
