Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci has revealed that it cost her a lot of money to put together her cook-a-thon for the purpose of clinching a Guinness World Record.

According to the restaurateur who achieved 100 hours cooking marathon, she spent more than year on the execution of the event.

Hilda made this known while being interviewed on Channels Television, saying it took her over five years to conceptualize the event and a year and five months to decide if it would occur.

She said; “I have been overwhelmed with love in a very good way, I did not expect it to be this massive, but I am very grateful. It took us about six months to plan the actual event up to execution; it took a year and five months from when I decided this would happen, and the idea came to me five years ago”

When asked what it cost to organise the event, Hilda said: “Especially at that scale and size, it costs a lot of money; I cannot specifically give the figure”.

On Monday, 15th of May, 2023, Baci, a 27-year-old graduate cooked for up to 100 hours, beating the chef Indian Chef Lata Tondon’s cooking record of 87 hours, 45 minutes.

However, The Guinness World Record team is yet to officially announce Hilda as the new world record holder and the reason is because it will review all the evidence first.

GWR said; “We are aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record”.

Baci commenced the four-day ‘cook-a-thon’ on Thursday, May 11 by 4pm at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State and concluded on Monday, May 15 by 8pm.
