The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has issued a stern warning to drug barons, declaring that its intensified crackdown on illicit trafficking will be sustained until every criminal network is dismantled.
NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa gave the assurance during a public destruction of seized illicit substances in Lagos, where he made it clear that traffickers, financiers, and distributors would no longer operate with impunity.
“Wherever you hide, whoever sponsors you, and however sophisticated your network may be, the long arm of the law will reach you,” Marwa said. “The agency remains resolute, relentless, and uncompromising in pursuing and dismantling every criminal network and its financial spine.”
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi confirmed the chairman’s remarks in a statement on Monday.
Marwa called on parents, schools, religious and traditional leaders, the media, and all Nigerians to become active stakeholders in combating drug abuse, stressing that the NDLEA could not win the fight alone.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who attended the exercise, described the volume of drugs destroyed as a sobering reminder of the threat facing communities and young people. He said the operation demonstrated the power of institutional collaboration among law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, and government.
“This is not merely to enforce the law, but to uphold justice, protect society, and secure a better future for our people,” Sanwo-Olu said, reaffirming Lagos State’s commitment to tackling drug abuse and trafficking.
Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Idi Abbas also pledged the Navy’s continued support for Nigeria’s drug-control efforts coordinated by the NDLEA.
