As the Super Eagles gear up for the AFCON 2023 tournament, 17 players have already landed at the team’s training camp in Abu Dhabi.
Among the players who have arrived are Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo, Moses Simon, Olorunleke Ojo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, and Joe Aribo.
The list also includes Frank Onyeka, Bruno Onyemaechi, Chidozie Awaziem, Zaidu Sanusi, Victor Boniface, Raphael Onyedika, and Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Notable absentees are Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, William Troost-Ekong, and Francis Uzoho, who are yet to join the squad.
Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi will miss out on the tournament due to injury and has been replaced by Alhassan Yusuf.
There are also concerns about Kelechi Iheanacho’s availability due to injury, with Terem Moffi being considered as his potential replacement.
A post on the Super Eagles official X account states that the team will kick off their training sessions on Wednesday evening as they prepare for their opening Group A match against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on January 13 and conclude on February 11, 2024.
