Ahead of the 2027 general elections, House of Representatives hopeful on the platform of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Comrade Mulade Blessing Sheriff, PhD, has pledged to promote peace, unity and inclusive development among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo people of Warri Federal Constituency.
Mulade, a United Nations Peace Ambassador and environmental rights activist, made the commitment during the official flag-off of his campaign and consultation meeting with supporters and stakeholders in the constituency.
The candidate, who is also the Ibe-Sorimowei of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area, said his ambition was driven by the desire to provide effective representation and attract greater federal attention to the constituency.
He argued that Warri Federal Constituency had contributed significantly to Nigeria’s economy but had not received the level of development, empowerment and federal intervention commensurate with its importance.
According to him, his representation at the National Assembly would prioritise constructive advocacy, stakeholder engagement and programmes capable of improving the welfare of residents.
Mulade promised to work with the local, state and federal governments to pursue the resuscitation of the Warri and Koko seaports as well as the development of the Warri Industrial Park.
He also pledged to promote employment and empowerment opportunities for youths and women through agriculture, fisheries, skills acquisition and other sustainable programmes.
“If elected in 2027 into the House of Representatives, Warri City and its environs would be given the deserved special attention through constructive advocacy and engagement with all relevant stakeholders,” he said.
The NDP candidate further declared that his campaign was not about political showmanship, but about providing what he described as credible, independent and inclusive representation.
He urged the people of the constituency to look beyond ethnic differences and work towards a common future built on trust, peace and unity.
“We cannot continue to fight ourselves, deprive ourselves or destroy ourselves. Now is the time for us to rise above our individualistic and ethnic considerations and build a broader relationship founded on trust, peace and unity across Warri Federal Constituency,” he said.
Mulade described himself as the “Light of Hope” for Warri Federal Constituency and appealed to voters to support a representative committed to people-oriented development.
“I humbly present myself as a critical stakeholder for quality, people-oriented and inclusive representation that will deepen unity, peace, progress and development among the people of Warri Federal Constituency and Delta State at large,” he added.
