Man narrates how residents of Abuja saved police vehicle from burning down

The positive relationship between policemen and the citizens of the country played itself out on Monday afternoon in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), when some residents saved a police vehicle from being razed.

A man, who revealed the incident on his Twitter handle, disclosed that he and some other people saved the police vehicle being driven by an officer when the man stopped after he saw fire in the left tyre of the car.

The man, whose Twitter handle is @OlumideSampson, disclosed in a series of tweets that the incident occurred around noon at Dunamis Junction by Area 1, and people had to come out to help the police officer who parked and was trying to put out the fire that started by the left tyre.

He added that the show of love for the police became more evident when two young men who were selling sachet water, popularly known as pure water brought down the bags of water which they used to put out the fire as well as his own fire extinguisher.

He added that what amazed him was that the people who brought various items including the sellers of sachet water did not ask for payment as all they were after was to save the police vehicle from burning.

He however revealed that despite the efforts they made to put out the fire, some people who witnessed the incident showed disdain by just passing and mocking the police officer.
