A 37-year-old man, Oluwafemi Lekan, has landed in trouble in Ekiti State for allegedly luring and engaging a 12-year old girl in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that he has been arrested and charged before Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court for allegedly raping the victim.
According to the prosecutor, Supol Osuolale Yomi, the defendant committed the alleged offence against the 12-year-old girl on 10th May, 2026, in Efon Alaaye-Ekiti.
The prosecutor told the Court that the
defendant stopped the minor, told her that he was her father’s brother, and asked her to follow him to his house to take something.
He alleged that when the defendant took her inside his house, he raped her.
The matter was reported to the Police. The defendant was arrested and charged for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The Court did not take plea following a motion by the prosecutor asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Olubunmi Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant pending issuance of legal advice by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ekiti State.
The matter was adjourned till 24th June, 2026, for mention for the report of DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
