Ahead of the 2027 polls, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has thrown his hat into the presidential race, unveiling his ambition as his PDP faction sealed a new alliance with the Allied Peoples’ Movement.
The deal was formalized Thursday in Ibadan through a Memorandum of Understanding between both parties. The agreement is aimed at deepening opposition coordination before the next general election.
Representing the PDP faction was Seyi Bamidele, while Oladele Oyadeji signed for the APM. Makinde and APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle also signed the document to cement the partnership.
With the signing concluded, Makinde used the occasion to announce his bid for the presidency in 2027.
Analysts note that the move places him among the first major figures to publicly position for the race, reshaping early calculations within the opposition camp.
