Kenneth Okonkwo vs Peter Obi: Why Eunice Atuejide wants evidence made public

The political storm surrounding allegations against Peter Obi has taken another turn, with former presidential candidate Eunice Atuejide calling on Kenneth Okonkwo to take his claims beyond public debates and present his evidence before a court.

Atuejide, who contested the 2019 presidential election under the platform of the National Interest Party (NIP), said Nigerians deserve clarity over the allegations being made against the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, the politician said she remains a supporter of Obi but believes every public figure must be open to scrutiny.

According to her, if Okonkwo has any information capable of proving wrongdoing against the former Anambra State governor, he should make it available through the proper legal process.

“I challenge Kenneth Okonkwo to disclose in court everything he has against Peter Obi that incriminates him,” Atuejide said.

‘I Don’t Want To Follow Someone With A Criminal Record’

The former NIP presidential candidate explained that her position was not about protecting any politician from criticism but about ensuring that allegations are properly investigated.

She said her support for Obi comes with a desire to see transparency, adding that she does not want to back any leader who has unresolved criminal issues.

Atuejide said the matter was important to her because her children were watching her political decisions and the values she represents.

“I want that scrutiny for my children’s sake. I’m following Peter Obi with all my heart, all my life, and I don’t want to follow a man who has criminal records, whom we probably cannot scrutinise,” she said.

Obi Supporter Wants Full Disclosure

The former presidential candidate said public discussions and accusations should not replace proper legal processes.

She argued that if evidence exists, it should be brought forward so Nigerians can judge based on facts rather than political arguments.

Atuejide added that she had already told Obi that she expects the matter to continue in court so anyone with claims against him can present them openly.

“And I have told my leader that I’m going to demand that he continue this case in court, so that everybody who has any information that incriminates him, I want to see them,” she said.

Political Fight Moves To Legal Arena

The controversy follows allegations made by ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo, who claimed there were issues surrounding the political activities of Obi and other NDC figures.

The claims have generated heated reactions among supporters and critics, with the matter increasingly shifting from political arguments to questions about evidence and accountability.

For Atuejide, the solution is simple, if anyone has proof, it should be tested openly.

As Nigeria moves closer to another major political season, the growing debate shows one thing: public figures will continue to face intense scrutiny, and political battles may increasingly be fought not only on campaign grounds but also in the courtroom.
