Former Ondo State Commissioner for Works and elder statesman, Chief Erastus Akeju, has passed away at the age of 88 following a brief illness.
The death of the respected politician and community leader was confirmed on Saturday in a statement issued by the facilitator of the Ondo State APC Elders Forum, Chief Demola Ijabiyi.
Akeju was widely regarded as one of the influential political figures in Ondo North, having served in various leadership positions during his decades of public service.
A Life Dedicated To Public Service
Before his appointment as Commissioner for Works under the administration of the late Governor Adebayo Adefarati, Akeju served as Chairman of Akoko North-West Local Government Area, where he played a key role in grassroots governance and community development.
His political career later extended into party administration, where he became Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Ondo State, providing guidance and leadership to party members across the state.

Reacting to the news, Senator Olajide Ipinsagba, who represents Ondo North Senatorial District, described Akeju as a committed public servant whose contributions left a lasting impact on the state.
According to the senator, the late politician dedicated much of his life to advancing the welfare of the people and strengthening governance at both the local and state levels.
