Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, also known as Mama G, has opened up about playing some of the most feared and controversial characters in Nigerian movies.
For years, Ozokwor has been one of Nollywood’s most recognisable stars. She is widely praised for her skill in playing a strict mother, tough mother-in-law, and sometimes wicked or manipulative characters.
Her performances were so convincing that many viewers found it hard to tell her on-screen roles apart from her real-life personality.
Recently, during a chat with a fan, someone asked Patience how she felt about playing such wicked roles in movies.
In response, Mama G said she never saw those characters as a reflection of who she really is.
She said, “I feel bold to expose the ills in society; these things happen, and nobody wants to expose them. I am exposing them. I am not like that. But I expose it.”
She added that playing such roles gave her the courage to shine a light on issues affecting families and communities.
The veteran actress stressed that while audiences often associate her with the harsh characters she portrayed, her goal was always to educate, entertain, and spark conversations about real-life issues through storytelling.
Ozokwor also expressed gratitude to her loyal supporters who have stood by her throughout her career.
She noted that she remains proud of her journey in the film industry and appreciative of the love she continues to receive from fans across generations.
She added: “I am extremely proud of myself, and Mama G lovers, I am proud of them.”
