I’ve Decided To Support The Government Financially To Ensure That We Complete Our Airport- Babalola

During Afe Babalola’s birthday celebration, he made a commitment to support the government financially in completing the Ado Ekiti airport project. He highlighted the previous governor’s attempt to complete the airport before facing legal challenges, which ultimately led to its suspension. Afe Babalola also expressed his concerns about the changes in Nigeria’s judiciary and advocated for a new constitution that would promote regional development while advancing the nation as a whole. He concluded by affirming his dedication to seeing the airport project through and expressing gratitude to President Obasanjo for his service.

During Afe Babalola’s 60th birthday celebration, he made a significant announcement expressing his willingness to provide financial support to the government in order to expedite the completion of the Ado Ekiti airport within a few months. He revealed that the airport project was initially initiated by the former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, but was abruptly halted due to the governor’s election challenge in the tribunal, which he ultimately lost.

Afe Babalola went on to emphasize that Nigeria has undergone substantial changes since his days of studying law, and now that he has returned to practice law, he has noticed a distinct transformation in the judiciary. He stressed the need for a new constitution in Nigeria that would enable each region to develop at its own pace while fostering national progress.

Addressing the audience, Afe Babalola directed his attention to the governor present and acknowledged the presence of President Obasanjo, stating that he had informed the governor of his decision to provide financial assistance to the government. He expressed his determination to ensure the completion of the airport, which is already halfway done, within the next few months by the grace of God. He expressed gratitude to President Obasanjo for his long-standing service and briefly concluded by highlighting the profound differences he observed in the country since his return to practice law.
