Shawarma (/ʃəˈwɑːrmə/;
Arabic: شاورما) is a popular Levantine Arab dish consisting of meat cut into thin slices, stacked in a cone-like shape, and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie or spit. Originally made with lamb, mutton or chicken, today’s shawarma may also be turkey, beef, or veal.

Thin slices are shaved off the cooked surface as it continuously rotates.
Shawarma is one of the world’s most popular street foods, especially in Egypt, the countries of the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, Iran and the rest of the Middle East.

Shawarma is enjoyed by every body, both young and old… but the question is whether pregnant women can eat shawarma. Is Shawarma OK or healthy for pregnant women… ? A woman one asked me if sharwama is safe for early pregnancy….

Pregnant women can eat Shawarma as it is rich in proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals….This is good news for ladies who love Shawarma and crave shawarma during pregnancy. However, it is important to educate you that Shawarma contains high amount of calories and can cause excess weight gain during pregnancy…. Eating too much shawarma during pregnancy can make your baby too big and you may have a difficult delivery.

Mind you, I am not saying you should not eat Shawarma during pregnancy, I am only saying you should it with much sense of moderation to avoid too much weight gain for you and your unborn baby

Eating too much Shawarma or hotdogs even even raise the cholesterol levels in your blood. Too much cholesterol in the blood can clog the blood vessels to cause coronary artery calcification and heart diseases.

Is shawarma good for a pregnant woman? Controversial

Even though Shawarma cannot cause miscarriage or abortion, the truth is, Shawarma is not truly a healthy food for pregnant women. So, avoid it. Foods that are controversial should best be avoided by pregnant women.
