Former Governor of Imo, Emeka Ihedioha, has urged leaders and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Owerri Federal Constituency to remain united and committed to the ideals of the party.
Ihedioha made the call during a grassroots engagement and interactive meeting with ADC members, stakeholders and leaders in Owerri Federal Constituency, held in Avu, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo, the hometown of the constituency’s Apex Leader, Dr Ray Opara.
He stressed the importance of cooperation among party leaders and members, regular engagement with the people, and responsible participation in the political process.

According to Ihedioha, the strength of the ADC would depend largely on its ability to build credible structures, encourage active participation and provide a platform for effectively representing the interests and aspirations of the people.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives urged party leaders to approach their responsibilities with discipline, humility and a strong sense of duty.
He said, “ADC must remain focused on providing credible leadership and a dependable political alternative for the people of Imo State.”
Also speaking, the National Vice Chairman, South-East, Sir Bon Unachukwu, reaffirmed the commitment of the party’s national leadership to strengthening the ADC across the region.
Unachukwu urged members of Owerri Federal Constituency to remain united and maintain close working relationships with the party leadership at the ward, local government, state and national levels.
He encouraged members to take the ongoing sensitisation exercise seriously, noting that sustained grassroots engagement, effective organisation and unity were essential to the growth of the party.
The Imo State ADC Chairman, Prof James Okoroma, also reaffirmed the commitment of the state leadership to building a strong and functional party structure across the state.
Okoroma called on leaders in Owerri Federal Constituency to intensify grassroots activities, strengthen existing structures and continue to engage members and supporters at the ward and chapter levels.
He also urged party members to maintain unity, mutual respect and discipline while avoiding actions capable of creating divisions within the party.
In his remarks, the ADC Zonal Chairman for Owerri Zone, Chief Ben Mere, welcomed the visiting leaders and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to strengthen its base through sustained grassroots mobilisation.
He called for closer cooperation among leaders, candidates and members across Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West, stressing that a well-coordinated structure would be essential to the party’s progress.
The Apex Leader of Owerri Federal Constituency, Dr Ray Opara, also welcomed the party leadership and participants at the meeting.
The engagement formed part of the party’s ongoing ward and chapter sensitisation tour aimed at strengthening internal coordination, promoting unity and deepening grassroots participation across the constituency.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the party’s leadership to listen to the concerns, ideas and expectations of members while emphasising the need to build a strong, disciplined and united political structure from the grassroots.
