A former military officer has shared his experience serving during Peter Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State, praising the former governor’s approach to tackling insecurity.
Speaking during a TikTok live session, he compared Peter Obi with other presidential contenders, Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, based on his personal experience in the military.
According to him, insecurity in Anambra State began to improve after Obi assumed office, with military personnel regularly deployed to tackle security challenges across the state.
“Chris Ngige was the only governor in the history of Nigeria to have been kidnapped. But immediately Peter Obi assumed office as governor, things started changing. Every day, we military personnel were on the move, working to tackle insecurity,” he said.
He further recalled serving under retired Major General Enenche, stressing that his assessment of Obi was based on his experience rather than ethnic affiliation.
The former military officer, who identified himself as a Yoruba man from Ondo State, maintained his support for NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was not influenced by his ethnic background.
“If Peter Obi becomes President of Nigeria, insecurity in the country will become a thing of the past. I’m speaking from experience. I’m not saying this because I’m from the Southeast.
I’m a Yoruba man from Ondo State, so you won’t say maybe because I’m an Igbo man. There’s no comparison between Atiku, Obi and Tinubu,” he added.
His comments have drawn attention to Obi’s record on security during his time as Anambra State governor and his proposed approach to tackling insecurity if elected president.
The statement comes amid political discussions ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu featuring prominently in conversations about the presidential contest.
