Controversial author and social activist, Reno Omokri has said that the main purpose why people make friends is to help each other.

The author and former presidential aide has taken to his Twitter page to say that if anyone does not get any friends to help them out financially when they need help, then they don’t have friends.

Reno Omokri is of the opinion that a person should refer to a person who cannot help them as friends. He said such people should be described as comrades, associates, and cronies. He added that a friend should be someone who is willing to sacrifice and lend a helping hand like the ‘Good Samrithan’ in the Bible.

He tweeted, “If have no one you can call if you need money and you are sure they will come to your aid, then you don’t have friends. You have associates, companions, and cronies. But no friends. You need a friend, like the Good Samaritan, who will spend money to save your life! #RenosNuggets

Fans have reacted to the post of Reno and have agreed to the post shared.

@I am Obi: That’s why i have decided to leave all my friends and stand-alone with my family, they are pretenders, after assisting them but when it’s time for them to help you they all start acting up. Instead of having friends of benefits I have chosen to be on my own

@regina: Those I thought were my friends when I was working. I helped them both cash and free phone calls when communication cost was very expensive could not even visit as I was disengaged. I don’t have any friend. My siblings are really my friends.

@sha nwosu: The way the country is right now sir. Your siblings don’t even have to spare. Not talk of friends. We so much need good job. I need job not give me today what of tomorrow? Hunger has finished us. Eating two times is testimony

@king: Some of us don’t even have any of the other 3 options let alone a friend. We face life on our own and deal with whatever it throws at us. If we survive, it’s only by the Grace of God.

@sunday: It’s very important to have that kind of friend. However, it’s not always a good decision to depend on people. They might be willing to help but what if they had personal stuff to sort out too? Also, the above tweet isn’t just about having good Samaritans as friends. Be one, too.
