If Nigerians decide to vote for a goat I’d respect their choice – Obi

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP), Peter Obi says Nigerians are enlightened enough to vote for whomever and whatever in the 2023 elections.

He stated this during a Twitter Space session on Tuesday night while responding to a question asked by co-host and journalist, David Hundeyin.

Hundeyin asked if Obi has plans to sue presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Bola Tinubu for alleged perjury and falsification of his documents following an expose.

The former Anambra governor said he prefers focusing on vital issues rather than speaking on other candidates.

He added that if Nigerians choose to vote for a goat after getting enough damning information about certain candidates, then he would not question the decision.

Obi said; “I don’t like speaking about other candidates. I like to talk about the issues. If after reading these revelations coming out and you and decide to vote for a goat, that’s your business”.

This comes days after a legal practitioner, Mike Enahoro-Ebah sued Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allegedly falsifying his age, certificates and lying on oath.

The Abuja-based lawyer sued Tinubu in three separate direct criminal complaints filed at the Cheief Magistrate Court.

Enahoro-Ebah is the complainant while Tinubu is the only defendant in the cases marked: CR/121/2022, CR/122/2022 and CR/123/2022 respectively.

He said it is in the best interest of Nigeria, justice and equity to issue criminal summons to ensure Tinubu’s attendance in court to answer to the complaints.

In the suits dated Nov. 9, 2022 and filed on Nov. 10, 2022 by the lawyer, he accused Tinubu of lying on oath, having falsely sworn to an affidavit in support of his personal particulars (Form EC-9) submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on June 17, 2022.

The lawyer’s matters were brought pursuant to sections 88(1), 89(3), 109(a), 110(c) and 115(1)(b) and 119 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015; under the inherent jurisdiction and powers of the court secured by Section 6(6)(a) of the Nigerian Constitution,1999 (as amended).

He also alleged that Tinubu presented a forged Chicago State University Certificate to INEC with the intent that it may be acted upon as genuine, thereby committing the offence of forgery contrary to Sections 362 (a), 363 and 364 of the Penal Code Act, Cap. 532, Laws of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
