Relationship coach Solomon Buchi has sparked reactions online after sharing his views on the roles of husbands and wives in marriage, insisting that a woman should never have to pay rent.
In a video circulating on social media, Buchi argued that providing shelter is one of the basic responsibilities of a husband, describing men as providers and protectors in marriage.

“A woman should never have to pay rent. If you’re a man and you claim to be a husband, you should be able to provide at least shelter. You’re meant to be a provider and a protector,” he said.
He, however, maintained that such an arrangement comes with expectations for both partners.
According to the relationship coach, if a husband is solely responsible for providing financially, then the wife should also embrace traditional domestic responsibilities, including managing the home.
“If you believe the man should exclusively provide, then you should exclusively be domesticated. If she wants an exclusive provider, you must demand an exclusive traditional woman. You can’t eat your cake and have it,” he added.
Buchi concluded that couples should agree on their roles before marriage instead of expecting traditional benefits without the responsibilities.
His remarks have since generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users agreed that marriage works best when couples clearly understand their roles, others argued that marriages should be built on partnership.
