A UK-based Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after sharing her opinion on marriage, claiming that if she wanted to marry a Nigerian man, it would not take more than two weeks for them to have a wedding.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she explained that many Nigerian men may be interested in marriage because they see it as an opportunity to travel abroad, although she acknowledged that some could have genuine intentions.
“If I want to marry any man in Nigeria now, it won’t take me more than two weeks for us to have our wedding because many of them are looking for opportunities to travel abroad. Some might be genuine, some might not,” she said
The lady further explained that she would rather choose a man living and working in the United Kingdom than someone with a more prestigious profession in Nigeria.
According to her, her preference is based on the opportunities and standard of living she associates with being abroad.
“So, I’d rather marry a cleaner in the UK than marry a banker in Nigeria,” she added.
Her comments have sparked debate online, with some Nigerians agreeing that better opportunities abroad can influence relationships, while others believe love, character and genuine intentions should matter more.
