He stated further that he was moved to tears and could realize that the people had felt the impact of his governance in the last eight years. According to him, he had to stop his car and say a proper fair well in respect to the people who stood in the rain for him.

He said, ”When I handed over the flag of the state and the handover note to my successor and then he saw me off to the car with my wife. People were shedding tears and I was touched, but that didn’t bother me much. When I left the stadium, I was moved to tears on my way back to Ikwerre land because of what I saw on the road, people stood in the rain for me. It rained heavily that day but people were still there. I asked my wife, what is going on here? I came down from the car and I saw the wide jubilation. It means that people know when you have made a difference in government. It has never happened in the history of the day that people will come out jubilating like that for a governor.”
