A Nigerian lady has shared her frustration online after allegedly being disqualified during a job interview in Abuja, claiming the selection process focused more on physical appearance than qualifications.
According to her, she applied for a hostess position and arrived at the venue only to discover that many other applicants had also been invited for the interview.
In her words, she said:
“I’ve never been this embarrassed all my life. Like, I’ve never felt this way all my life. So I went for one job interview today here in Abuja, and I applied as a hostess.”
She claimed that officials began screening candidates based on physical features such as height, body size, complexion, and overall appearance, with several applicants reportedly asked to leave before the interview process began.
The lady further alleged that the remaining candidates were asked to line up and turn around while their bodies were assessed.
According to her, she was eventually disqualified without anyone reviewing her CV or asking about her experience.
“They were asking us to do 360. They were checking our backside. If you don’t have bum-bum, leave. They didn’t even go through my CV. They didn’t even ask me anything. From there, I carried my bag and started coming back home. This was how I was disqualified because I don’t have bum-bum,” she added.
Her account has since sparked reactions online, with many social media users debating appearance-based hiring practices and the pressure some women face regarding body image.
She said the experience left her feeling humiliated and questioning why physical appearance appeared to matter more than qualifications.
