I only sleep for 5 hours – Timini Egbuson to take acting break next year

Popular Nigerian actor, Timini Egbuson has revealed that he will be taking a much-needed break from Nollywood next year.

He explained that the reason he will be taking a sabbatical is because he’s been going from set to set over the years and only managed six hours of sleep a day.

Timini disclosed his decision during a recent interview with content creator, Kamsi Nnamani on her podcast, stressing that it was high time he got some rest.

Egbuson said; “I only rest when I go out at night. I only sleep five hours to six hours a day. And then keep the work going. But next year I’m going on a sabbatical.

I have been acting for the past fourteen years consistently. There has never been a downtime or a time when I’m just chilling. And I did not say that with pride. I say that with all humility. It has just been God.”

Seasoned Nigerian actress, Rita Dominic, recently disclosed why she chose to take a sabbatical from appearing in Nollywood movies.

The 48-year-old thespian said she gave up acting and stardom around 2001/2002 and moved to the United Kingdom UK, because she was dealing with personal issues.

Rita Dominic, who was speaking at the 2024 Women of Valour Conference in Accra, Ghana, revealed that while in the UK, she started working as a caregiver for spec!al needs adults.

She said while some might view her job as a caregiver as a “step-down”, she didn’t because taking care of others brought her joy and purpose.

The actress said; “In 2001/2002 I stopped acting. I left the [movie] industry and moved to London because it was a very dark period in my life. I fell out with some friends I considered family. And I just gave up acting for a while. I needed to get out of that space for a minute.

“And then I moved to London and gave up stardom. You won’t believe this, this is something I’ve never told people before. While in London, I was trying to make ends meet so I started working in a care home as a caregiver for adults with spec!al needs. While some might view it as a step-down, I don’t. Taking care of others brought me joy and purpose at a time I needed it most.”
