I Happened To Be The First Actor That Acted In The Movie That Started Nollywood – Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo says, “The man Dokpesi is a friend to Nigeria and a friend to Nigerians. And I think this was his priority when he was alive. He was a man who had a focus on nation-building and counted his country and citizens first, before even himself.”

He went further to say, “Now, at a personal encounter with him, I recall that when Nollywood started, I happened to be the first actor that acted in the movie that started Nollywood. So we were doing many things at the same time because there were not many practitioners. There were not many practitioners in the field then. So I was a marketer too. So Dokpesi discovered that because of scarcity of funds, in the hand of entertainers. That the entertainers may not be able to afford the publicity they need to advertise their movies. And he made AIT available for Nollywood.”
