I can’t date a Nigerian woman – Singer, Timaya [Video]

Popular Nigerian dancehall star, Inetimi Alfred Timaya Odon, known by his stage name Timaya, has said he cannot date a girl from his country.

Timaya, who has three Nigerian baby mamas, also said that he was a Nigerian girl, he would not date a man from Nigeria.

The ‘Plantain Boy crooner made the statement in an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, as he explained that the dynamics of the relationship would be complex and too toxic.

Timaya said: “If I am a Nigerian girl, I will not date a Nigerian man. Myself right now, I can’t date a Nigerian girl. My current lover is not Nigerian.

“I can’t date a Nigerian lady because we have the same foundation; the same upbringing. The relationship go be like police and thief. The relationship will be too toxic. We go dey lie for each other too much. We won’t even have peace.”

Nigerian journalist, David Hundeyin, earlier revealed that the woman in his life is from East Africa and he deliberately chose not to date ladies from Nigeria.

He stated that he sees his partner as an equal and not something that needs to be domesticated, which is the problem with Nigerian women.

According to the investigative journalist, a lady who wants to be with a man would make it easy for him instead of acting and playing hard.

Hundeyin further said that the Nigerian perception of love involves mandatory financial transactions and bonding on a traumatic level.

I believe if someone wants to be with you, they will make it easy for you instead of acting as if you need to club them over the head and drag them home like a caveman. The Nigerian perception of “love” is BDSM + financial transactions with a sprinkle of emotional trauma bonding.”
