A Chief Magistrate’s Court No. 12 in Gombe State has ordered the remand of a constabulary officer, Idris Salisu, over allegations of threatening to kill two police officers with a knife.
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Musa Wadachi, issued the remand order on Thursday following Salisu’s arraignment on a charge of criminal intimidation, contrary to Section 396 of the Penal Code Law.
The prosecution counsel, Aliyu Ibrahim Garba, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in July 2026 at about 1 p.m.
According to Garba, Salisu went to the Barunde Police Outpost, where he allegedly picked up a knife and threatened to kill two police officers identified as ASP Sule and Inspector Peter Joel.
“The defendant went to the Barunde Police Outpost with a knife and threatened to kill two police officers, ASP Sule and Inspector Peter Joel,” the prosecutor told the court.
Garba maintained that the defendant’s alleged actions constituted criminal intimidation, an offence punishable under Section 396 of the Penal Code Law.
When the charge was read and explained to him, Salisu pleaded guilty.
Following his plea, Chief Magistrate Wadachi ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody and adjourned the case until November 9, 2026, for hearing.
