The Federal University of Agriculture Zuru, (FUAZ), in Kebbi state has began a 2 week warning strike following non implementation of it’s demand earlier stated in an ultimatum it gave to the university management.
Confirming the strike action, FUAZ Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), Comrade Danbauchi Ishaq Sanchi said the 2 weeks warning strike commences from midnight of the 18th August, 2026.
A statement signed by Danbauchi, said, “After the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum issues by the Congress of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture Zuru (FUAZ) branch to the University council over the non-implementation of the FGN-ASUU SIgned Agreement, 2025.
“Regrettably, as of today, 18th August, 2026, we are yet to receive any positive response of concrete action from the University Council towards addressing the issues raised in the agreement”
Decrying the lack of positive response from those expected to do so, FAUZ-ASUU submitted their resolution to embark on the warning strike by saying, “lectures and tutorials, examination and continues assessment, supervision of projects and thesis, as well as all Senate and Faculty Board meetings and all other academic-related enhancements put on hold”.
Continuing, Danbauchi said, “We sincerely regret the inconveniences this action may cause, but we wish to emphasis that this decision was not taken lightly.
“It has become imperative in order to draw the Council’s urgent attention to the lingering unresolved issue that has continue to undermine the welfare of our members and the smooth running of academic programmes in this University”. Danbauchi noted.
