The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), through its Mobile Court sitting at Kabusa Roundabout, Abuja, has secured the remand of a driver, Mubarak Mansur, following his arraignment for alleged Route Traffic Violation (RTV), Dangerous Driving and fleeing with an arresting FRSC Marshal.
Presided over by Her Worship Teresa, the Mobile Court ordered that the articulated vehicle involved in the incident be impounded at the FRSC RS7.1 FCT Sector Command, while the defendant was remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned to 8 September 2026 for hearing and determination.
The incident occurred at about 1300hrs on Thursday, 3 September 2026, during a Mobile Court operation at Kabusa Roundabout, where the driver was arrested for alleged Route Traffic Violation.
In the course of impounding the vehicle, the driver reportedly diverted from the prescribed route with the arresting Marshal still in the vehicle, prompting the Marshal to raise an alarm and call for reinforcement.
Following a coordinated response by FRSC personnel and the Nigeria Police, the vehicle was successfully intercepted and rerouted to the Apo Unit Command. It was subsequently towed by a heavy-duty recovery vehicle to the FCT Sector Command for safekeeping pending the determination of the case.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed while speaking on the arrest, reiterated that road safety enforcement is not merely about penalising traffic offenders, but about protecting lives and ensuring that every road user complies with established traffic regulations.
He warned that attempts to evade lawful enforcement or compromise the safety of enforcement personnel would be treated seriously and handled in accordance with the law.
The Corps Marshal further urged motorists, particularly operators of articulated vehicles and other heavy-duty vehicles, to obey designated routes and all traffic regulations, noting that no individual or operator is above the law when public safety is at stake.
Expectedly, FRSC appreciates the cooperation of the Nigeria Police and other stakeholders in ensuring that road traffic laws are effectively enforced and that the safety of both road users and enforcement personnel remains paramount.
