Fresh messages showing Nigerians selected for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 relief grant have begun circulating, with screenshots featuring MTN’s MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB).
The messages concern the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), which provides a ₦50,000 grant to selected vulnerable households. One message reads: “Relief! FGN has Chosen you to receive #50,000 under NERSI to help with living costs. This is FREE. Enq? Call 07000222222. Dial *671*0# to accept.”
The screenshot identifies MoMoPSB as the sender and instructs the recipient to dial *671*0#. The code is listed for MoMo PSB on the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction’s official NERSI page.
The messages are emerging as Nigerians await further payments. The ministry says beneficiaries are selected from the National Social Register and verified national identity records, based on poverty and vulnerability criteria. Payments are made in phases through approved providers. The programme does not require a public application or registration.
Online posts describe the notifications as Batch B or Batch 2, but the ministry has not officially identified this particular message as a new batch. The screenshots show individual notifications, not confirmation of a nationwide selection exercise.
How to accept payment
Anyone receiving a genuine MoMo PSB selection message should dial *671*0# from the registered phone number and follow the prompts to give consent. The ₦50,000 is credited to the beneficiary’s wallet after acceptance. The grant is free. Do not pay agents or share your PIN, one-time password (OTP) or Bank Verification Number (BVN). For verification, call the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.
