President Bola Tinubu on Monday declared that roads being constructed by his administration are injecting life in the economy.
Tinubu spoke during the official commissioning of the newly rehabilitated and expanded roads from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction including other adjoining roads in the Karu area of Abuja.
The road is part of projects to mark Tinubu’s third year anniversary and the President was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He noted that the road stands as a testament of his administration’s promise to reduce urban congestion and upgrade the standard of living.
The President said: “We were in this vicinity to commission water supply to Karu and neighbouring communities, today it’s roads and indeed this project stands as a clear testament to our promise to reduce urban congestion and upgrade the living standard of our people. It’s a direct order of our renewed hope agenda in action.
“When we took office three years ago, we recognized that true development must reach where the people actually live and commute, for years the Karu corridor serving as a critical gateway between the FCT and the neighbouring states suffered from severe traffic congestion that affected the productivity and energy of residents.
“By expanding and rehabilitating these roads, we are not just laying asphalts but we are injecting life back into the local economy, this projects cuts down daily travel time, eliminates gridlocks, and ensure that businesses in this densely populated area can thrive under the right conditions.
“The premium road network prioritize the safety of its users both day and night to ensure maximum security along this corridor, the FCT Administration has installed modern solar powered street lights along the entire road networks drastically reducing night time travels and improving visibility for motorists.”
