Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, insisted that no President in Nigeria’s history has provided infrastructure like President Bola Tinubu has done in the last three years of his administration.
Wike made the remark while backing the comment of the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, that Tinubu has done more road infrastructure in the FCT and its satellite towns than any President in Nigeria’s history.
Speaking during the commissioning of access roads to the Renewed Hope Cities and estates in Karsana West District of Abuja to mark Tinubu’s third year anniversary as President, Wike faulted the criticisms that greeted Akpabio’s comment.
According to Wike: “Let me correct one impression, this morning as we were trying to set out, I was privilege to watch the television and the presenter tried to take on the Senate President that no president in this country have constructed infrastructure the way Tinubu has done.
“We were in Abuja yesterday and the subject matter had to do with infrastructure as far as the FCT is concern and, you said and it’s correct that no president has constructed not only in the city centres, even in the satellite towns, the number of roads in Nigeria’s history, that was what you said.
“Even if you said the whole Nigeria, you are right but your comment centered on the FCT were you were carrying out your assignment yesterday to talk about Mr President.”
The FCT minister maintained that the satellite towns have never experienced the impact of governance like they’re experiencing currently under Tinubu’s administration.
“Let anybody come out to say if the satellite towns have known governance before like this, nobody knew about this Karsana district but today see where we are, it’s about the provision of infrastructure, so stand firm in what you say we will defend you with our actions,” he added.
