FAAN assures air passengers of uninterrupted operations amid aviation unions’ strike

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has assured air travellers that Nigeria’s airports will remain safe, secure and operational despite the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions.

In a press release issued on 11th August 2026, FAAN said it is closely monitoring developments and working with relevant aviation agencies, airlines, and security agencies to minimize disruptions.

The Authority said it recognizes the legitimate role of organized labour and supports efforts by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, and other stakeholders to reach an amicable resolution.

FAAN also confirmed that earlier operational challenges affecting the movement of some flights within the airside have been addressed through inter-agency coordination. Measures are being sustained to ensure the orderly continuation of flight operations.

The Authority urged passengers to remain calm and maintain contact with their airlines for real-time flight updates.

“FAAN remains committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s airports remain safe, secure, functional and accessible to passengers and other airport users,” the statement said.

FAAN further expressed confidence that ongoing engagements under the leadership of the Minister will lead to a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution.
