Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, has reacted to comments by Arise Television anchor Oseni Rufai questioning Peter Obi’s readiness for the 2027 presidential election.
Rufai made the remarks during the television station’s morning programme on Friday, arguing that the former Anambra State governor was facing political challenges that could affect his preparations for the next presidential race.
The broadcaster raised concerns about Obi’s reported disagreements with the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC) and the OK Movement, as well as the absence of a clearly presented manifesto.
According to Rufai, questions surrounding Obi’s policy positions and political alliances have fuelled doubts about his preparedness for the election.
During the programme, Rufai also criticised what he described as inconsistencies in Obi’s position on the controversial fuel subsidy policy.
He argued that Obi had previously indicated support for retaining the subsidy but had more recently spoken about removing it after addressing alleged corruption surrounding the scheme.
Rufai said the apparent shift in position had left some observers questioning the consistency of Obi’s economic proposals.

The broadcaster further claimed that Obi had lost some of the people who supported him during the previous election cycle. He questioned how the presidential hopeful would navigate the political landscape ahead of the January elections.
Reacting to Rufai’s comments in a post on his official X account, Bwala described the television anchor’s remarks as a “confessional statement.”
He wrote: “Confessional statement is admissible in court. Lolll eyes Dey clear small small”
