The spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has advised president Bola Tinubu against giving appointments to former governors and ministers who have been involved in the promotion of ethnic and religious bigotry.

Speaking in an interview with Arise , Hakeem Baba-Ahmed noted that Bola Tinubu will only be inheriting somebody else’s enemies if he makes the mistake of appointing those that promotes bigotry into his government.

He noted that there are several persons who have said or done so many things that are out of place, and that irrespective of the political value they might bring to his government, they would only become a liability if he appoints them into office.

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed noted that anybody president Bola Tinubu should appoint into his cabinet should be someone who is sensitive to the religious beliefs of others.

He said “former governors, former ministers who have been involved in wielding power in such a manner that it fuels bigotry shouldn’t have a place in this administration. There are toxic appointments, there are people who president Tinubu shouldn’t touch otherwise, he would be inheriting somebody else’s enemies.

“There are people who’ve done or said many things that this country has no business dealing with them, he should avoid them, they would not help his administration. In spite of whatever political value they may bring in, they are likely to be a liability. Nigerians would say he is filling his government with people who caused problems, it is important. Anybody who comes to work for him at any level must be a person who is not identified first as a Christian or a Muslim but, he must be sensitive to religion.”
