Ekong and Omeruo Absent from Super Eagles Squad for World Cup Qualifiers, Osho and Tanimu Included

In an unexpected decision, Super Eagles coach Finidi George has omitted seasoned defenders William Troost-Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo from the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

According to reports from OwnGoalNigeria, both players were left out due to fitness issues as they continue to recover from injuries. While Ekong, initially part of the provisional list, has been ruled out entirely, Omeruo still holds a slim chance of making the final selection.

However, Gabriel Osho, the Luton Town defender who missed the recent friendly matches against Ghana and Mali due to injury, has been granted another opportunity to potentially make his senior debut for Nigeria. Benjamin Tanimu, who debuted in the friendly fixtures, has also been named in the squad.
