By MBACHU GODWIN Abuja

Ahead of the primary election for the House of Representatives in Ekiti state , the Coalition of All Progressive Congress, APC, Support Groups have rejected the endorsement of Mr Toyin Okoro Zacheaus as the consensus candidate for the Ekiti South federal constituency .

It urged the APC Screening Committee for Ekiti State house of Representatives and the party’s National leadership to thoroughly investigate the concerns raised before taking steps regarding his candidacy.

In a petition letter by the group Secretary General , Comrade Chidiebere Osondu addressed to the Chairman, All Progressive Congress, APC, Screening Committee, Ekiti State , house of Representatives alleged that Okoro was not suitable for the position being considered as he was allegedly convicted and prisoned in the United Kingdom in 2026 over fraud.

It described the endorsement as clandestine , kangaroo and unacceptable, adding that due deligence was not followed.

The APC group also accused Okoro Toyin of breaching the Code of Conduct Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic as he is a public officer with the National Assembly and sits as a sole Director in ZAC – LAWRENZ NIG LTD.

The letter reads “We respectfully draw your attention to the alleged clandestine endorsement of one Mr Okoro Toyin Zacheaus ,as a preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency.

” It is important to bring to your notice certain concerns regarding the suitability of the aspirant being considered for such a critical position.

” Accordingly, we kindly urge you to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation into the following allegations .

” Firstly, it is alleged that Mr Okoro Toyin Zacheaus was convicted and imprisoned in the United Kingdom for fraud around 2006, which resulted in his deportation .

” Secondly, and of equal concern is the conduct of the aspirant which is currently serving as a public officer in the National Assembly. By virtue of his letter of appointment confirming his position as a senior legislative Aide he qualifies as a public officers within the constitution and the code of conduct for public officers.

” Notwithstanding this, records from the CAC indicates that he has remained as the sole director of ZAC- LAWRENZ NIG LTD up to the present time , while serving as a public official.

” This raises serious concern under the code of conduct provisions relating to conflict of interest.

” Furthermore, contracts award documents revealed that the said company benefited from government contract, including projects valued at approximately 90,000,000. These payments were reportedly paid into the company’s account with WEMA bank account number 0263360200, which is also alleged to be the same account into which his official salary is paid. This suggest a troubling overlap between public duty and private interest.

” These concerns are not speculative, they are supported by documentary evidence and are capable of substantiation in a court of Law.

” More importantly, in the present political climate such information could easily enter the public domain, be amplified across media platforms and be used strategically to undermine both the credibility of the aspirant and the reputation of the party.

“In the light of the above , we respectfully request that these issues be thoroughly investigated before any further steps are taken regarding his candidacy”
