Eid-el-Kabir:Jonathan felicitates Muslims, urges reflection on faith, sacrifice

By Emmanuel Oloniruha

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has felicitated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on Eid-el-Kabir, emphasising the need to reflect on the values of faith, obedience, and sacrifice.

Jonathan, in his goodwill message issued on Wednesday in Abuja, noted that the festival served as a reminder that absolute trust in God and prioritising the collective good over personal interests remained vital to overcoming trying times.

He urged citizens to channel the spiritual essence of the celebration into collective prayers and actions aimed at tackling the security and economic challenges currently facing the country.

“On this occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, I extend my warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria and the world.

“This celebration calls us to reflect on the great lessons of faith, obedience, and sacrifice.

“It reminds us that even in difficult times, absolute trust in God and willingness to put the greater good above ourselves will always lead to a path of blessing and hope.

“Today, our nation is going through challenges that demand our collective prayers and actions, especially for peace and security,” he said.

Jonathan noted the need for national cohesion, stating that the country’s diverse ethnic and religious background should be harnessed as a pillar of strength rather than a tool for division.

He said that sustainable nation-building required the same spirit of devotion and duty that the Eid-el-Kabir festival symbolises.

“As we celebrate, let us stand together with renewed resolve to safeguard our country and guarantee a secure, stable, and prosperous future for all Nigerians.

“May God bless our efforts and protect our Federal Republic,” Jonathan said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
