The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Osun Sector Command, has revealed that a total of five hundred and fifty-five personnel will be deployed across the state during the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
The Osun Sector Commander, Corps Commander Sunday Tayo Adebayo, made this known in a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, Agnes Ogungbemi, on Friday in Osogbo.
Adebayo also revealed that a total of three ambulances, two roadside clinics, one tow truck, and fifteen patrol vehicles would be deployed throughout the state.
Adebayo, who said the operation was in line with the FRSC headquarters’ directive to carry out Sallah operations, added that the Osun Sector Command and its component Unit Commands would commence a week-long operational activity from May 25 to 31, 2026.
He said, “Five hundred and fifty-five (555) personnel, three (3) ambulances, two (2) roadside clinics, one (1) tow truck, and fifteen (15) patrol vehicles would be deployed to cover Osun State. The operation shall be carried out with other uniformed organisations.
“In line with the HQ directive to carry out Sallah operations, the Osun Sector Command and its component Unit Commands are commencing week-long operational activities from May 25 to 31, 2026.
“This season will be full of activities, as we will be involved in the management of vehicular movement throughout the festive period. The week-long activities will come to an end on May 31, 2026, and there is no better time to share this message of safety on our roads than now.
“One of the statutory functions of the Federal Road Safety Corps is the clearing of obstructions on the road. As a lead agency in traffic management, FRSC also helps to identify prevalent causes of Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs), as well as other consequential effects of road use activities that impact the security and overall well-being of Nigerians, and also proffer solutions to them.”
The Osun FRSC boss, who said all the resources of the sector command and its component units would be put to use across the state, urged motorists to cooperate with the Corps, comply with traffic rules and regulations, and observe speed limits.
“In recognition of the fact that we cannot do it alone, and to lend credence to the saying that ‘Road safety is everybody’s business,’ I am using this opportunity to once again leverage the pivotal role of our media partners in helping to convey this message to homes, offices, worship centres, and other public places.
“We must all join hands to fight this dangerous trend for us to win the war against avoidable loss of lives on the roads. We must always remember that behind every road safety statistic is a human being, a child, a parent, a colleague, a friend, or a loved one. Route violations, wrongful overtaking, excessive speed, and overloading must stop.”
He also added that the operation would be carried out in cooperation with other sister organisations.
