Nigerians have been cautioned against using swimming pools without a lifeguard on duty.

On Sunday, June 26, Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin issued the warning following reports that three siblings had perished in a swimming pool at a residence in the Ajah neighborhood of Lagos State.

According to DailyPost, the couple had left the children, who were ages 14, 7, and 3, at home while they went to an event. 

However, they went to the estate pool to swim and drowned while doing so.

Later, locals and security personnel found their motionless bodies and transported them to the hospital, where it was determined they had passed away.

When they arrived, the pair reportedly passed out but were awakened a short time later.
